If a General Assembly member is appointed to the Board, the member's term must end on the earlier of (1) the ending date of the term for which the member was appointed or (2) the ending date of the member's term as a General Assembly member.
Qualifications
Board consists of 5 members including Secretary of State; 1 appointed by House Speaker; 1 appointed by Minority Leader of the House; 1 appointed by Senate President; and 1 appointed by Minority Leader of the Senate. Not more than 2 of legislative appointments may be of the same political party. If legislative leaders fail to appoint by the last Monday in January of the appropriate year, the Secretary of State must appoint members affiliated with the appropriate political party.
